Huitt-Zollars was selected by the City of Plano to prepare plans and specifications for the widening of 4,000 linear feet of Los Rios Boulevard from four lanes to six lanes, and to replace the bridge over Rowlett Creek. Several alternative bridge lengths were analyzed to determine the optimum opening that would permit passage of the 100-year flood event without flooding the approaches to the bridge, or flooding residences in the adjacent, single-family subdivision both upstream and downstream. The proposed 400-foot structure will replace an existing undersized, 75-foot-long structure, with only minor channel improvements required.
