Huitt-Zollars provided full-service architectural, engineering, interior design, fire protection, and construction administration services for this six-acre, $12-million project located in Fort Worth, Texas. The new building is an approximately 35,000 square feet and includes a gymnasium, elevated indoor track, fitness center, licensed pre-school, childcare center, administration space, outdoor leisure and lap pool (designed by Counsilman-Hunsaker), and parking for 180 cars.
The primary building is divided into quadrants, with the main lobby and a corridor extending north separating the building into west and east portions, with the west portion accounting for approximately one-third of the building’s area. A secondary corridor separates the building into north and south portions and connects the east and west portions of the building, as well as providing a connection to the pool.
All areas of the facility and site were designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards. The Texas Accessibility Standards are more restrictive than the Americans with Disabilities Act and Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Guidelines, which the facility must also comply with. The facility design was reviewed and then the construction was inspected by a third-party independent.
