Huitt-Zollars served as Lead Civil Engineer for landside improvements included with the program to develop a new 20-gate air carrier terminal for the airport. The project included widening the Cedar Springs Drive entrance roadway, new water and wastewater utilities, reconstruction of the Aviation Place service roadway, surface parking, traffic signals, pedestrian tunnels, landscaping, walls, ADA compliance, signage, and ITS systems. Drainage improvements eliminated roadway inundation problems. Close coordination was required with the city, the CMAR contractor, the terminal design team, FAA, and TSA.
