Design services were provided for the tropical rainforest conservatory, located on Galveston Island. The simplicity of the glass-skinned pyramid conceals its complex technical design; steel truss framing and the three-quarter inch glass envelope can withstand 120-mile-per-hour winds – significant possibilities in this coastal area. The ten-story structure houses one acre under glass enabling guests to experience the African, American, and Asian rainforest regions. Interactive exhibits feature unique foliage, tropical birds, exotic fish, up to two thousand butterflies, and an authentic Japanese teahouse.
