McCarty Fleet Maintenance Facility Service Center

Northwest Service Center

The Northwest Service Center consolidated service and maintenance functions for the City’s Equipment & Building Services (EBS), Sanitation and Street Services, and District Four Sanitation operations. The site provides concrete paving for parking a city fleet of 285 city vehicles and 228 employee and visitors.

North Service Center

Huitt-Zollars prepared the program, schematic design, design development, and construction documents and performed bidding and full-time construction management services for Harris County Flood Control District’s new North Service Center.

Waterline Replacement Program

This program required the replacement of three to five miles of old cast iron water lines per year. The lines were located in established city neighborhoods. During construction, existing lines were kept in service with minimal interruption, and access to residences and two-way traffic was maintained. The program also included the installation of 120 new fire hydrants, the reconnection of 2,400 water services, the replacement of pavement, and the acquisition of permits from the Texas Department of Transportation and the El Paso County Water Improvement District #1.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

As the District Engineer for the Harris County Water Control and Improvement District since 1982, Huitt-Zollars has been a responsible for the planning, management and design of the wastewater system for this 755-acre District. Work to date includes the design of a 1.0 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant, an Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) Study for the wastewater system, replacement of sewer lines by the Trenchless Technology of pipe-bursting, wastewater plant permitting, sewer line extensions and lift stations, and GIS mapping of the wastewater facilities in support of GASB 34.

Wastewater Treatment Plant

Huitt-Zollars designed the improvements for the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant for Brazoria County Municipal Utility Districts Number 4 and 5. This project increased the plant’s capacity from 700,000 GPD to a 950,000 GPD. The design included a new blower building, clarifiers, aeration basins and headworks.

Sonoma Ranch Lift Station and Force

The Sonoma Ranch Lift Station is to serve the ultimate build out of the 290-acre Sonoma Ranch Subdivision. The lift station is a submersible lift station 30 feet in depth and 12 feet in diameter which pumps wastewater from the Sonoma Ranch subdivision to the regional wastewater treatment plant over a mile away via a 12-inch force main. Huitt-Zollars provided the planning, design and construction phase services for the Lift Station and Force Main.

Greens Parkway Municipal Utility District

As the District Engineer for the Greens Parkway Municipal Utility District for the past 30 years, Huitt-Zollars has planned, designed, and maintained the water and wastewater systems for this 200-acre District. Significant public utility projects completed for this District include a Water Plant with a 1,000-GPM Water Well; 600,00-gallon Ground Storage Tank; two 20,000-gallon Hydro-pneumatic Tanks; a Control Building with two 1,300-gpm Booster Pumps; one Sanitary Sewer Lift Station, and a 0.35-mgd Wastewater Treatment.
