Army South Headquarters

Huitt-Zollars prepared a Design/Build RFP that included bridging drawings and specifications. The scope of work development involved the reconfiguration of Building 1000 (old Brooke Army Medical Center). Huitt-Zollars provided architecture, MEP, and Project Management services. Assistance was provided in issuing bid documents and expediting the construction award due to expiring funds.

Fort Hood Whole Barracks Complex

MW Builders led a team of design partners in a Design/Build contract that included Huitt-Zollars for all engineering design services. The complex was constructed on adjacent sites that total approximately 16 acres. The complex included two 3-story UEPH barracks buildings (53,706 square foot each) and two Company Operations Facilities (59,471 square feet each). The facilities accommodated 162 living units designed to house two soldiers per living unit, for a total of 324 soldiers. Also included was a small Visitor Center, a commons area, postal and laundry facilities.

Maneuver Systems Sustainment Center - Red River Army Depot

Huitt-Zollars served as prime design firm, with management responsibilities plus technical responsibilities for architecture, structure, mechanical (including HVAC and piping/plumbing) and electrical engineering. The new facility consolidates multiple functions into a single 377,000-SF seven-building facility on approximately 15 acres of site development. In addition to building and site design, Huitt-Zollars was responsible for programming, layout, and design of approximately $20 million of highly specialized process-related equipment.

48-Inch Water Transmission Line Along Shorecrest Drive/Lemmon Drive

Upon completion of a modeling and alignment study, Huitt-Zollars provided design services including field surveying, utility coordination, SUE, video inspection, preliminary engineering, final engineering, traffic control plans, and cost estimating for the replacement of a water transmission line along Shorecrest Drive and Lemmon Avenue. The project included 7,500 linear feet of 48-inch (154-LF Bore), 990 linear feet of 24-inch and 2,250 feet of 12-inch waterlines.

McKinney Avenue Streetcar Olive Street Extension

Huitt-Zollars was selected to extend the McKinney Avenue Streetcar along Olive Street, from McKinney Avenue to Bryan Street, into downtown Dallas. This project, phase one of the Modern Streetcar System, will improve transportation within downtown Dallas by creating a seamless transit connection and providing a multi-modal link between jobs and residents. It specifically targets commuters in mixed use districts adjacent to downtown and will help create a transit network linking urban areas by providing multiple transportation alternatives.

Chisholm Trail Parkway, Section 3B

Huitt-Zollars, as an extension of the NTTA staff, provided construction engineering and inspection services for a major highway interchange project on Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH-121) at the IH-20/SH-183 split on the southwest side of Fort Worth, Texas. Section 3B ($92.5M) is one of six sections of the new, 26-mile corridor which runs from downtown Fort Worth to Cleburne, Texas, and consists primarily of main lanes and direct connector construction.

Hillhouse Service Center

Huitt-Zollars programmed and designed the Hillhouse Service Center. The project included development of a 10-acre site with significant challenges for detention, storm water quality, and mitigation due to its location within the floodplain. Included in initial development is an 8,000-square-foot Traffic Engineering and Operations Building consisting of administrative offices; a supporting server room, where signal and camera data are displayed in real time; signal maintenance shop; storage rooms, break room, restrooms, and locker room.

Big League Dreams Sports Park

Huitt-Zollars prepared the civil, structural and electrical engineering design for the new 40-acre Big League Dreams Sports Park in League City. The Park consists of six scaled-down replicas of famous Major League Baseball fields with dugouts, walls, and stadium lighting. The fields include the old Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Crosley Field, Sportsman’s Field, and Ebbets Field and are designed to accommodate a wide variety of participants from youth to adult athletes.

Pasadena Police Complex

Design services were provided for a police complex intended to meet the long term projected growth needs of the City. This project was delivered via the city’s first design/build process. The phased 110,000-SF project includes environmentally responsive design solutions that minimized adverse effects on the exterior environment; enhanced the quality of the indoor environment; and minimized consumption of energy, water, construction materials, and other resources. There were extensive security requirements for the project.

Barbara Bush Library

The 30,000-SF, two-story library utilizes Texas limestone and a standing seam metal roof as a complement to the existing library and buildings around the site. The $4.5M library includes administrative offices, a 100-seat meeting room, classrooms, service areas, staff kitchen, and children's areas.
