Fort Bend County Pedestrian Plaza

Huitt-Zollars designed and constructed a pedestrian plaza to enhance the visual and historic appeal of the area between the Historic Fort Bend County Courthouse and the County’s William B. The project embraced sustainable design by incorporating a 10,000-gallon rainwater harvesting system to collect, store, and pump rainwater from the roofs of both buildings for irrigation usage.

Cottonwood Creek Trail

Dallas County, the City of Dallas, Park Foundation, and the Texas Department of Transportation approached Huitt-Zollars to design one of the final sections of a hike and bike trail system connecting Hamilton Park to a section of trail adjacent to the ‘High-Five’ interchange of LBJ Freeway and US 75.

Constellation Field

As a member of the City’s Program Management Team and Lead Civil, Structural, MEP and Illumination Engineer and Landscape Architect, Huitt-Zollars developed the site plan, utility plans, grading plans, lighting plans, landscape/irrigation plans, conceptual structural plans as well as MEP, fire protection, and IT/Data design requirements for Constellation Field, the City of Sugar Land’s new $27.9 million Professional Minor League Baseball Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys Stadium Construction Staking

The new $1.15 billion Dallas Cowboys Stadium is located in Arlington, TX. During stadium construction, Huitt-Zollars’ survey department was responsible for the horizontal and vertical calculations and location layout used in the placement and erection of steel beams. Precision and accuracy were paramount in the steel beam placement, ensuring fluid/smooth operation of the retractable roof. The firm also assisted in the placement of the 600 ton, high definition LED video screen. The Dallas Cowboys Stadium can seat 80,000 to 100,000 guests by use of a moveable seating system.

The interior design supports various restaurant functions: a bar/lounge area, public and private dining, special event rooms and an open chef's kitchen. The interior palette displays natural materials of wood, hemp and grass. Life-size photos of Akaushi cattle and timber ceiling elements (created from ranch remnants) contribute to the ranch-chic ambience.

Pearland Public Safety Building

Huitt-Zollars served as the City of Pearland’s project manager for the design-build of a new 83,000-square-foot, $19.9 million, Public Safety Building. The two story, LEED-Silver facility houses the City’s Departments for Police, Courts, Utility Billings and Tax Office. Huitt-Zollars scope included preparation of guideline specifications, conceptual floorplans, site plan, and facility scoping documents. Huitt-Zollars assisted the City in a two-step design-build procurement process, prepared detailed performance and quality criteria, as well as the design-build Reques
