IH-410 Freeway Widening

Huitt-Zollars designed a two-mile segment of IH-410 to widen the main lanes from six to ten lanes with retaining walls along the frontage roads, new overpass bridges at Callaghan and Babcock, and the redesign of seven entrance and exit ramps. The design included: roadway plans and profiles, bridge layouts, retaining wall layouts, signing, pavement marking, continuous illumination, and an extensive storm drainage system for the main lanes and frontage roads. The shop drawing review and construction phase support services were also included.

Harlem Road Overpass on Grand Parkway

Huitt-Zollars prepared final plans, specifications, and estimates for a new 0.8-mile four-lane divided roadway and tolled overpass above Harlem Road on Grand Parkway. This segment is part of the SH 99 outer loop of Houston. Huitt-Zollars performed utility investigations, roadway design, drainage/detention analysis and design, traffic control, and SWPPP. Included in the design is a significant elevated section on a two degree curve with a bridge skew of approximately 45 degrees.

Los Rios Boulevard Bridge

Huitt-Zollars was selected by the City of Plano to prepare plans and specifications for the widening of 4,000 linear feet of Los Rios Boulevard from four lanes to six lanes, and to replace the bridge over Rowlett Creek. Several alternative bridge lengths were analyzed to determine the optimum opening that would permit passage of the 100-year flood event without flooding the approaches to the bridge, or flooding residences in the adjacent, single-family subdivision both upstream and downstream. The proposed 400-foot structure will replace an existing undersized, 75-foot-long structure, with

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Expansion

Huitt-Zollars served as A/E of record on the VA Cemetery Gravesite Expansion design-build team. The project called for survey, construction testing, geotechnical, irrigation design, and fire protection sprinkler design services. Huitt-Zollars provided design and construction documents to convert 70 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the existing cemetery into more than 11,000 new burial sites, additional columbaria, and a new cemetery maintenance facility.

Houston National Cemetery

As a member of a design-build team, Huitt-Zollars prepared the architectural and engineering design, construction documents, plus topographic surveying services for the Houston National Cemetery expansion. The design scope of work included streets, drainage system, detention facilities, sanitary sewer, grading, storm water pollution prevention plan, landscaping and irrigation, auxiliary maintenance and storage facility, lighting, signage, demolition plans, sidewalks and accessible ramps, and new committal shelters. During construction, Huitt-Zollars installed construction staking, reviewed

Luton Ranch HEB Granbury

Huitt-Zollars provided due diligence, engineering, and surveying services for the annexation, preliminary plat, and zoning for the entitlement of 133 acres of mixed-use commercial property within the City of Granbury. Entitlement exhibits, preliminary engineering, and final engineering were prepared for the development of 21 acres. Memorial City Mall Renovation

Architectural services were provided for the $157M renovation of Memorial City Mall. Notable among Houston's major regional shopping centers, this design-build project transformed it into one of Houston’s premier retail destinations and additional upscale anchor stores and lifestyle retailers such as Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel were added.

Kemah Boardwalk

This project scope included completion of the master plan for an exciting family-oriented waterfront boardwalk in Kemah, Texas. This dynamic multi-venue project creates a one-third-mile pedestrian entertainment district complete with five existing restaurants, three new restaurants (including an aquarium restaurant), as well as an amusement area with a 60-foot ferris wheel, carousel, and tower slide.

60 Degrees Mastercrafted

The 4,451 square-foot restaurant interior displays a unique prototype by fusing modern and rustic elements to brand the "ranch to table" dining concept. The interior design supports various restaurant functions: a bar/lounge area, public and private dining, special event rooms and an open chef's kitchen. The interior palette displays natural materials of wood, hemp, and grass. Life-size photos of Akaushi cattle and timber ceiling elements (created from ranch remnants) contribute to the ranch-chic ambiance.
