San Jacinto College, North Campus - Spencer Building

Huitt-Zollars provided architecture services to the newly renovated, 40,000-square-foot Spencer Building, located on the San Jacinto College North Campus. Design Elements include  addition to the front of the building to house the Student Services Center, totaling $6.9 million.  The service center now includes an open computer lab, gathering areas, enrollment services, testing center, financial aid, and a President and Vice President Suite. Huitt-Zollars also improved air quality to reduce operational costs. 

San Jacinto College - Center for Industrial Technology

San Jacinto College is developing a curriculum where academics, innovative technology, and private industry join to fill a missing link in advanced vocational training. The new Center for Industrial Technology, sited at the front of campus along the main street, highlights the combination of academia, new technologies, and the workplace.  This project embraces the technology with careful attention to the scale of the existing campus. The building has a large footprint that requires heavy service/ infrastructure and demands flexibility as future workforce needs of the community shift.

Parking Garage 1A UH Main Campus

The University of Houston Garage 1A was completed as a design/build project on the University of Houston Main campus.  The controlled access precast parking structure for 1,500 vehicles encompasses 500, 0000 GSF with five levels above grade.  Sustainable design principals where utilized in the design of the garage. The garage was designed to serve the growing student residential corridor and provide additional parking for visitors, faculty/staff as well as commuters. The garage has entrances and exits on both the north and west sides to help facilitate efficiency.

John Cooper School

Woodlawn Academy

This project included 57,000 square feet of renovation of the existing Woodlawn Elementary School to the Woodlawn Academy by adding capacity for 7th and 8th grades. It also included complete demolition and replacement of existing cafetorium and kitchen. Project details include: a 22,000-square-foot addition, 90,000-square-foot renovation, accommodations for Pre-K through Eighth grade students, expansion of science and art labs, cafetorium, and band and music hall. 

SH 288 – TOLL LANES

The SH 288 Toll Lanes Expansion project aims to implement improved functionality of 10.3 miles of SH 288, in one of the region’s heavily congested areas, from US 59 to the Harris County line at Clear Creek. By constructing new toll lanes, installing toll infrastructure, and establishing toll operations and maintenance, SH 288 will handle traffic better than ever before.

Huntsville Facilities Condition Assessment

Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center

This multi-service facility incorporates both social and recreational needs under one roof. The 85,000 square feet center is home a new Senior Citizen’s Center, children/infants day care center with an adjacent fenced in playground area, classrooms, family counseling area, offices, clothing pantry, food pantry, and a new barrel vaulted roof enclosed full size NBA basketball court, that can be divided into two areas, with seating for 800 people.
